Apologies for the gap in writing…
Neelathamara is shot. Its first cut, primary edit, is done. Now we are dubbing at Ernakulam. Meanwhile a new project, a small `big’ movie, was in making! The reason why I couldn’t blog is the same… this film `Puramkazhakal’ was being shot, edited and completed during the last couple of weeks.
You might have heard about the new film venture `Kerala Café’ being produced by director Ranjith’s Capitol theatre. Ten film makers in Kerala, nine well known and a debutant, are joining hands to do ten short films, to be connected together to hit screens as a single full length feature.. I am doing a ten minute film based on an acclaimed short story of the gifted writer C.V Sreeraman. Here is sharing another joy that I have prepared screen play and dialogue for the same!
Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Manikandhan, D.C.Nair, Ronichan and Sreelekha play lead roles in `Puramkazhchakal’. I had procured the right for the story long back from Sreeramettan. Until his demise he kept asking me about the future of the project! It was planned to be a television movie for Amritha TV. Fortunately or otherwise it did not take off. At the shock of his farewell this story reminded me of a shadow of guilt. When Renjith narrated the concept of Kerala Café that it has the theme as travel, Puramkazhchakal and Sreeramettan came in once again! It is a privilege to do this story in celluloid. It was the writer’s wish to make the story in film medium. It might well be his blessing that the narrative is taking shape through great performances of Mammookka and Sreeniettan!
The cinematographer of Neelathamara, Vijay Ulaganath is wielding camera for this film. Ranjan Abraham is the editor. Back ground score is done by Bijibal, Sreejith Guruvayoor does Make up and costumes are by Sajith Edappal. I share the `Kerala Café’ platform with Shaji Kailas, Shyamaprasad, B.Unnikrishnan, Anvar Rasheed, Revathi, Anjali Menon, Padma Kumar, Uday Ananthan and Ranjith’s associate and first time director Shankar.
It’s a film about journey; telling us there are more for our eyes, ears and body to experience at every turn of life. And surely it is New!
