Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttyum is still running successfully at major release centers and theatres! During Onam the film got released in new centers. Targeted audience of the film received it well. Other segments of audience couldn’t accept it completely. Anyhow, my producers are satisfied; me too! Wish I could come up with a creation that enthralls audience of all mind states soon.
Now we are going ahead with the new project. James Albert is waiting with completed screenplay. Today on 25th, the shooting is to start. It is named `7 Sundara Raathrikal’ (Seven beautiful Nights). I shall be back with detailed updates soon. Till then my heartfelt gratitude for those who loved `Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttiyum’. Those who didn’t like it, here is requesting – Please give me three more chances!! I Shall try my best to be back with a good film!
Spanish Masala was done in 2011. But it got released only in the beginning of 2012. This year saw two more releases- `Diamond Necklace’ in May and Ayalum Njanum Thammil’ towards the end of year. Ayaalum Njaanum Thammil bagged all other awards except Asianet and Jayhind awards of the year-Amritha TV awards, Surya TV and Producers Association awards, awards from Qatar, Dubai, Kerala state film awards…and now SIIMA awards as latest in the line!
More than the glitter of awards, I am consoled by the wider acceptance this film gathered amidst micro levels in criticism from internet and mainstream Malayalam media. The recognition is based mostly on the creative potential and strenuous effort of the team including producer Prem Prakash, writers Bobby and Sanjay, Cinematographer Jomon T.John, art directors Gokul das and Mohan das, music composer Ouseppachan, lyricist Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma, editor Ranjan Abraham and all other technicians.
I cannot but mention one name. And that’s Prithviraj! Preliminary form of the story was told to Prithviraj. He was the one who realized that I could do the film better and suggested my name to the producer and script writers. Here is my gratitude for the insight and belief he expressed!
While writing this at the tail months of 2013, I share the strength and recognition bestowed by this film with him, who is the original source of existence of Ayaalum Njaanum thammil!
A peek into the making of Pullippulikalum aattinkuttiyum……
Coming up with more!
Today I have two glad tidings to share! First Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttiyum, my next movie has completed shooting schedule. Second, I am off to Hyderabad for Filmfare awards. As of now, I’m informed that the best director award for last year awaits me!
We shot `Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttiyum’ in the midst of the worst flood Kuttanad witnessed in last forty years and have a lot of invaluable moments during the progress of shooting. The subjects and visuals we experienced could well become a novel, if I elaborate. I shall write one after another in the blog for you. `Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttiyum’ would reach theatres by 9th August. Now am catching a flight to Hyderabad. Shall write in detail as I get back… Till then adieu!
